OUR STORY

Chef Sean

Chef Sean was classically trained at the California Culinary Academy.  Sean always knew he wanted to be a chef ever since the age of 10.  Sean was the Chef d'cuisine for Chef Maurice Couturier, former Chef to King Hussein of Jordan, for 6 years in Aspen, Colorado.  

He went on to be the executive Chef of multiple restaurants in Aspen, before opening his own restaurant in Aspen.  After owning his own restaurant in Aspen, Sean decided to move to New Glarus, WI where he met his beautiful wife, Nancy. 

They moved to Stoughton, WI and Nancy convinced Sean to open a restaurant, so he could showcase his talents and provide a fine dining experience.  This was the start of Big Sky Restaurant in May 2013.

Nancy

Before meeting Sean and opening their own restaurant, Nancy had never worked in a restaurant.  Prior to living in Wisconsin, she lived in Missoula, MT for 15 years.  She moved to New Glarus, WI and took a position with Summit Credit Union as a Compliance Officer- a job she still works at and loves!  Nancy says "the restaurant is Sean's dream and I feel lucky to be part of it.  Working at the restaurant and meeting our guests is the best part of my day!"

 

Big Sky History

Montana, The Big Sky State, holds part of Nancy's heart.  Big Sky is a reflection of the U.S. which encompasses many different cultures, and so does our food!

My nephew and I had a truly outstanding meal here Saturday evening. Everything about the Big Sky is exceptional. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed friendly and attentive service in a comfortable and relaxing environment. The crab cakes were brimming with crab and made deliciously special with a citrus sauce. The lamb chops were the best my nephew has ever eaten. To my delight, even the coffee was unusually good. I look forward to another wonderful dinner in the near future.
